The 12U Kingston Kannons Girls Softball team started out the summer season in strong fashion by winning the Abington Father’s Day Tournament. Over the weekend of June 19-20, the Kannons won all five of their games by a total score of 67-12. They beat Hanover 2, Whitman, Marshfield, and Abington 2, before beating Abington 1 in the finals by a score of 10-3.
Head Coach Battista described the weekend’s success as being the result of a total team effort. Strong pitching performances by Carr and Hayes, potent offense led by the timely hitting of Barry, Battista, Johnson, Munroe, Nolan, Ohlson and Sears, and stellar defensive play by Kelly Danahy, O’Leary and Riordan were the keys to the success.
The Kannons hope to carry this success into the start of the South Shore Summer League season when they open up their schedule with a game against Halifax on June 28.
